Family Nesticidae

This family is represented by only two species in this part of Europe. Nesticus eremita is very rare.

The spider makes a web of criss-cross threads with gummy droplets near the attachments of the thread.
They can be found in humid, dark places. These ones were found in the water meter hole in my garden.
Their prey is mainly crawling insects.
The females carry the egg-cocoon attached to their spinnerets like wolf spiders. The cocoon can be larger than the spider itself.
Nesticus cellulanus
resembles Scytodes thoracica the glue spitting spider.
