Spiny leg spiders or Wandering spiders

Family Zoridae

Home <------

Only one genus is present in this family in NW-Europe.

Genus Zora

Seven species are found in NW-Europe. The spider is very similar to the Pardosa genus of the family Lycosidae - the wolf spiders.
The striking difference is the narrowed carapace (head) of this spider. Also the arrangement of the eyes is a little different.

These spiders hunt at daytime and can be found in low vegetation at ground level.
